GreenSpot Named NGBS Partner in Excellence

GreenSpot Energy & Sustainability was recently named a “Partner in Excellence” by the certifying overseer for the National Green Building Standard (#NGBS).
Granted July 11th, the award went to people, companies and organizations that made outstanding contributions to green building in their communities, and for commitment to market-driven certification of high-performance homes. GreenSpot was one of six accredited in-field verifiers and 30 professional organizations nationwide to receive the award, and the only Colorado award winner.
GreenSpot works with single- and multi-family building owners to certify properties with the above-building-code certification, an alternative to #LEED -- the U.S. Green Building Council’s “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.” While not as well known as LEED, NGBS offers an equally stringent home designation that marks a property as green – lower energy and water bills, more comfortable, healthier, more durable, and with a smaller carbon footprint.
In particular, NGBS has an abbreviated certification path for remodeled and renovated properties, and we’ve worked with a number of “green-and-flip” investors, rehabbers and owners. (See blog post 10/16/2013 for one example.)
The National Green Building Standard is also one of the top three green-building certifications searchable on multiple listing services throughout Colorado and other MLSes offering searchable fields about green homes In the United States.
